Duct Tape

See also Wolverine costume, made on top of this with more duct tape

This costume was made with about $20 in 2 hrs. The pattern was derived from an old cut up shirt. The material was made from overlapping layers of duct tape. To do the same:

      1) Lay one strip of tape sticky side up (on a clean smooth surface like a wood table).

      2) Lay the next layer sticky side down covering half of the first strip. Press down (together) on the overlap only.

      3) Turn over and repeat until you have material long and wide enough to match your pattern.

      4) Lay your pattern over the duct tape material and mark it with marker or scribe it with a pencil or pen.

      5) Cut out, bend and duct tape your pieces together.

The cheap silver duct tape is very poor quality (tends to unstick), so critical areas were done or reinforced on the inside with industrial quality black tape ("Gorilla" brand). The shirt took two 60yd rolls of the cheap stuff and a fraction of a roll of the good stuff. The buckles were from an old backpack. First constructions tend to be loose and baggy, expect where bends are needed, so trim to fit (cut and duct tape back together as needed), or design the pattern slightly smaller.
