Sunglasses
Tired of sunglasses that fall off when you look over the edge of a cliff, or break
when you lean on them, or let the wind
through to your eyes... well I was so I made these. They're a combination of the lenses from a cheap pair of
BluBlockers, the frame
from a particularly cool cheap pair of glasses (scratched up lenses though), and whatever that neck strap
thing is called. Instead of hooking the strap onto the
arms, remove the arms (in my case, because they broke when I leaned on them/dropped them off a cliff too
many times) and sew the
strap directly to the frame. Not only are they more compact without the arms, but they are thinner in your
pocket so don't get crushed nearly as often or as badly.
The elastic nature of the strap and the frame design combine to hug the face so there is almost no wind
shear getting through to my eyes anymore. Even at 80km/hr I wasn't teary-eyed.
I used these on my Africa, Everest & Antarctica
trips and didn't need the backup pair of glasses I brought along. They're great for photographers too as
the low profile doesn't interfere much with
camera viewing. Also, they can be pushed off your face quickly for a better view without worrying about
them as the strap around your neck
keeps them handy.
